Congratulations to Ridge and Valley Charter School, 

who was recently awarded the highest level (Champion: The Tree) of 

the Earth Charter & ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) School Seal!! 

RVCS is the first school in the United States to achieve this exciting international seal! Developed by Earth Charter International, this seal enables schools to assess how well they embody sustainability in both actions and teaching. It highlights strengths, reveals areas for growth, and benefits the entire school community, while shining a spotlight on institutions like ours that are leading the way in sustainability. Across the school year students and guides spent extensive time and effort working on the application for the school seal during clubs, committees, class time and workshops, submitting the completed application in late winter. It was then reviewed by the Earth Charter Director of Programs and a private verifier who recently informed us that we achieved the final certification at the Champion: The Tree level! We are so proud of our school, students, guides, Trustees, families and the larger non-human school community who are all in relationship together working towards a hopeful sustainable future!
