Ridge and Valley Charter School, a K-8 public school in N.W. New Jersey, seeks innovative, experienced teachers/guides with strong team building and leadership skills to work as part of an energetic and collaborative team mentoring students in an experiential, multi-age setting. Our mission is to cultivate interconnectedness by immersing children in the natural world through an innovative outdoor, project based curriculum, with an integrated ecological and sustainable living focus. All teachers/guides and students spend significant time outdoors, in all weather, including overnight expeditions. This is a ten(10) month position. NJ certification preferred for all applicants. Salary starts at $45,000 with potential increases for advanced degrees and/or years of experience. Leadership Team Member
Ridge and Valley Charter School seeks a grounded, collaborative leader to join the Leadership Team in stewarding the next phase of the school’s development. Rooted in Earth literacy, ecological understanding, and circle practice governance, Ridge and Valley cultivates learning that helps young people experience the world as a living community and understand their place within it.
The Leadership Team Member works closely with guides, office members, the Child Study Team, and staff to support the health of the school community and the coherence of learning across grades K–8. Previous teaching experience is essential; administrative experience is a plus. Special education or behavioral certifications are also valued, as well as NJ Principal or Supervisor certification, or willingness to pursue them.
Because Ridge and Valley is a small school, the work is varied, intense at times, and often unpredictable. This role requires the ability to adapt quickly, go with the flow, and prioritize effectively each day. A strong personal system for organization, prioritization, and self-care is essential.
The person in this role must align deeply with the mission and vision of Ridge and Valley, embodying an understanding that humans are not separate from Earth but expressions of the universe through the living planet itself. This role asks for someone able to hold both the long-term vision of the school and the practical realities of daily school life.

Professional Qualities
This role calls for someone highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and determine where attention is needed most each day. Technology skills, including spreadsheets and data management, are a plus.
The Leadership Team Member is a team-oriented leader who works from trust, contributes ideas, and supports the community with clarity and steadiness. This role requires the ability to listen deeply, understand dynamics, and respond from a neutral and empathetic leadership stance, while maintaining the resilience to move forward constructively within a small, collaborative school community.
This is a twelve (12) month position. A Master’s degree and a valid New Jersey administrative certificate, such as Principal, Supervisor, or an appropriate instructional certificate with specific, documented training in teacher evaluation or the willingness to pursue such credentials, is preferred. Salary range is $70,000 – $89,000.
